FIVE LIES EVERY GIRL SHOULD AVOID

Text: Juhi Dua

In the excitement of getting to know a new guy and in a bid to impress him, girls often tend to portray themselves as someone they may not be. However seemingly harmless, if the relationship does take off, these lies can become a curse later. These are the five lies every girl should avoid at all costs:

“I love the outdoors!”

Most guys appreciate an adventurous streak in a woman. They love it if they can find a partner in their women for their treks, white water rafting, bungee jumping and so on. But let’s face it, most women aren’t exactly outdoors enthusiasts, so why claim to be a savvy trekker or a water sports enthusiast when cold water gives you the jitters? Not only will you be punishing yourself by indulging in things you don’t like, but your inefficiency at the given activities will expose you as a liar.

“I love cricket”
The fact that you like and understand the game will be a huge turn on for most guys. But if you lie about this, you will not be able to maintain the façade of being a cricket fan like your man and your lie will be out soon. Especially when he starts up a discussion you have nothing to contribute to or when you have to spend weekends pretending to enjoy a match.

“I am very patient”
This is a lie you might be able to pull off initially, but as you get comfortable with your guy and spend more time with him, your true self will unconsciously surface and unpleasantly surprise both you and him.

“I am not possessive at all”
Many women these days are very open-minded, but there are others who like to track each and every move of their partner. If you belong to the latter category then accept it and let your guy know about your apprehensions and concerns. This will guide him to behave accordingly and your over reaction to certain situations will not come to him as a shock. On the other hand, if he doesn’t like this trait of yours, then either you make an effort to change or let the guy go. Over possessiveness is something you usually can’t hide for even a month. If your partner is not willing to tolerate it at all, then you aren’t made for each other.

“I am a great cook”
Most women who lie about this end up eating their own words. Not all of us can be great cooks so you don’t have to feel guilty if you aren’t one. Just let him know that you aren’t a goddess when it comes to culinary skills and he will know what to expect. Boasting about your international cuisine expertise and then serving him burnt pasta and under-cooked chicken will ruin everything and reveal your ugly lie.

So girlies, the idea is to lie smartly and to keep away from committing bloopers. Go ahead and play the wooing game but beware of these five dangerous but common lies.
